Reading a movers list without getting burned

Check the volume. A coin that rose 40% on a few hundred thousand dollars of trading can fall just as fast; that's why the list hides anything under $1M of 24h volume by default. Raise the filter to $100M to see only moves with real money behind them.

Compare periods. A coin that tops the 24h gainers but sits among the 30d losers is bouncing after a slide, which is a very different story from one leading on every window. For the market-wide picture, open the heatmap.

Why limit the list to the top 250 coins?

Tiny tokens with almost no trading can jump hundreds of percent on a single trade, which makes a "gainers" list useless and risky. Staying within the top 250 by market cap and filtering out low volume keeps it meaningful.

Does a coin topping the gainers list mean it will keep rising?

No. Short-term winners often give back gains quickly. A big move on low volume is especially fragile. Treat this as a list of what moved, not what to buy.
