About Bitcoin
Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, described in Satoshi Nakamoto's 2008 white paper as "a peer-to-peer electronic cash system". New coins are issued to miners, and the issuance rate halves roughly every four years (every 210,000 blocks).
